Clubs & Sports
High schools offer clubs and sports that build career readiness. CTE programs may also offer Career Technical Student Organizations.
Directions: Research your high school’s clubs and sports. Choose at least three activities. Also explore community-based clubs that are not connected to your school.
Entry-Level Jobs
A job is one of the best ways to build experience. You will practice tasks, professional habits, and earn money.
If you are under 18, you may need an employer willing to hire minors and a work permit. Your school may also have rules related to grades, attendance, or eligibility.
- Identify jobs that build skills for your career goal.
- Record options in your journal using the four questions above.
- After a job offer, ask your school for the work permit form.
- Complete the form.
- Start working and earning.
